NextWeb Garners Accolades From Bay Area Business Publications

FREMONT, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- NextWeb, California's largest fixed wireless Internet service provider for business, today announced that the company has received recognition from two leading Bay Area business publications, in addition to being recognized by the East Bay Business Times in July of this year. At a gala awards ceremony on October 7 at the San Francisco Marriott, NextWeb was named 15th out of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the region by The San Francisco Business Times; and at a similar ceremony on October 14 at San Jose's historic Fairmont hotel, NextWeb was named 15th out of the 50 fastest growing private companies in the region by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Both the San Francisco Business Times, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal have run special editions of their newspapers highlighting the winners. Eligibility and ranking were verified based on NextWeb's consistent 400% plus growth rate over the two year ranking period 2001-2003. The awards are significant because there are hundreds of well-funded private companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and this recognition underscores NextWeb's success in a very tough and competitive market.
"These two additional awards make it a clean sweep for NextWeb," commented NextWeb CEO Graham Barnes. "All three of the major Bay Area business journals have acknowledged our rapid growth, which is especially notable considering how competitive the market for broadband services is here in the Bay Area and indeed throughout our Southern California service area as well. A combination of a stellar staff, sound judgment about when and where to invest resources, and the ability to grow our existing markets, as well as to bring in new markets through mergers and acquisitions, has put NextWeb in a solid position for future success. However, none of this would be possible without our loyal customer base, and we are highly appreciative for those customers that have given us their business over the past several years."
NextWeb's business-class Internet service is available not only in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, but in more than 175 cities throughout California. The industry-leading service typically saves businesses thousands of dollars per year by eliminating the high cost of a traditional T1 from the phone company. Because NextWeb owns and maintains its own independent telecommunications network and connects directly to the Internet backbone, the company's service completely bypasses telephone and cable companies, providing customers with significantly more bandwidth at substantially lower startup and monthly costs. NextWeb is constantly expanding its service areas, and recently launched service in downtown San Francisco, as well as signing a sales and marketing alliance with RedWire that expanded its service coverage into the San Diego metro area. The fixed-wireless company guarantees its high-speed Internet service will be up and running for its customers in three to seven business days, compared to weeks or months typically associated with larger wireline carriers.
