WOW! Internet and Cable Deploys Mentis Software to Enable Flow-Through Provisioning for Voice Over Internet Protocol Services

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentis Broadband Solutions, a leading provider of integrated billing and customer self-service software for the broadband services industry, announced today that WOW! Internet and Cable Service has deployed the Mentis Transaction Management Interface - Voice (TMI-V) solution to enable the flow-through provisioning of the WOW! Voice over IP (VoIP) offering.

Mentis worked with WOW! to deploy the Mentis TMI-V platform in less than four months. TMI-V provides WOW! with an efficient, flexible and scalable platform to address legacy back-office order management and provisioning workflow between CSG's Advanced Convergent Platform-Voice (ACP-V) and WOW!'s CLEC partner (Sprint). As a result, the Mentis platform allows WOW! to minimize manual processes, mapping issues and long development lead times that have plagued many VoIP implementations in the cable industry.
The TMI-V solution is designed to accelerate the launch and growth of the Cable VoIP business by fully automating the back-office handling of service orders and network provisioning. TMI-V addresses the swivel chair handling of orders between MSOs and their CLEC partners, eliminating the highly manual processes involved in managing service requests from traditional cable billing systems and converting them to CLEC service requests and switch provisioning instructions.
"We chose Mentis as our integration vendor because of Mentis' understanding of how to integrate to our legacy billing and customer care system," said Manny Miera, VP of Operational Support Systems at WOW! Internet and Cable.
TMI-V Enables Cable Operators to Manage VoIP
Orders through Telecom Industry's Local Service Order Guidelines (LSOG)

Using the industry standards developed to allow CLECs and ILECs to communicate through Local Service Request (LSRs) order formats, LSOG allows for the automated handling of virtually all ordering scenarios between cable operators and their CLEC partners. TMI-V integrates to Sprint's LSOG gateway to handle all critical order scenarios for the cable operator, including orders for New Native, New Ported, Moves, Adds, Disconnects, Changes, Customer Service Request queries, PICs, and Port-Out Requests. With this full range of capabilities enabled to LSOG, TMI-V turns the cable operator's back office from a highly manual order handling process into an exception handling and quality improvement process.
"We went from an interface concept and an LSOG definition to an integrated order management system in a little over 4 months," said Cristin Brown, Director of Product Management at WOW! "We had to cover as many of the use cases as possible before going to market, and Mentis was able to give us the depth necessary to automate the order interaction with our CLEC partner."
The TMI-V solution leverages the real-time integration capabilities of the Mentis Real-Time Response (RTR) platform, the most widely deployed integration infrastructure supporting the broadband cable and satellite industries today. Like RTR, TMI-V is another solution based on Mentis's Services Oriented Architecture for making available discrete, highly scalable transactions from the MSO's billing and customer care systems for consumption by enterprise applications and business-to-business partners.
"The fact that we can provide both Front-Office and Back-Office solutions for the incumbent billing systems like ACP-V to the problem of order management and service provisioning gives us the breadth to address the unique and evolving business requirements of VoIP for cable operators," stated Mentis Broadband Solutions' CEO, Richard Schoenmaker.
TMI-V empowers the cable operator with easy-to-use Business Process Management tools for rapid response to an evolving VoIP marketplace and LSOG standard. "Throughout the implementation, the speed with which Mentis was able to respond to evolving business requirements demonstrated the flexibility of the solution," said WOW!'s Miera.
TMI-V is the first solution to be certified by CSG for handling orders through the Service Order Distribution Interface (SODI), the back-office API that accompanies CSG's new Voice module for its ACP-V platform.
"With TMI-V automating the flow of orders between a comprehensive voice order entry solution like CSG's ACP-V and the CLEC partner's LSOG order interface, MSOs like WOW! now have all the pieces needed to exploit CLEC partnership strategies and scale their VoIP business," said Schoenmaker. "TMI-V simplifies resource requirements with its intuitive architecture and translation functionality while providing MSO's with a means of monitoring and tracking orders. Most importantly, TMI-V enables users to focus on their service delivery, customer satisfaction and retention efforts, rather than their VoIP interface," Schoenmaker continued.
