ShoreTel Selects eyeP Media to Provide Softphones

eyeP Media SA today announced a next-generation Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) softphone, based on eyeP Media’s MGCP eyeP Phone SDK, for use with ShoreTel’s IP telephony system. eyeP Media, a provider of SIP and MGCP-based softphones, streaming SDK’s and Media Server solutions for OEMs, service providers, PC and PDA users worldwide, provides ShoreTel’s customers added functionality and flexibility for mobile workers to access and seamlessly use the capabilities of the ShoreTel5 system anywhere there is access to an Internet connection.

ShoreTel’s customers are impressed by the softphone. “While stranded at Hong Kong International Airport last December, cell service was unavailable. Fortunately, I had the ShoreTel softphone installed on my laptop and was able to make calls to the US using the airport’s Wi-Fi access,” says Neal Waldman, IT Manager and owner of Musiker Discovery Programs, who was an early convert to ShoreTel’s system. “The convenience and ease of use – as exemplified by my ability to turn those 24 hours into productive time – plus the cost savings, make the softphone a must application for road warriors like me.”

“We are extremely pleased that ShoreTel chose the eyeP Media solution to provide enhanced VoIP services for their customer’s mobile workers,” says Peter Schmid, eyeP Media’s CEO. “The interoperability of the eyeP media MGCP softphone with the ShoreTel5 system should prove to be a major cost saving to these companies.”
