AMD Opteron Processor Powers Customer Applications for Leading Italian Online Insurer; Genialloyd Selects AMD Opteron Processor-Based Solution to Boost Its E-Commerce Business
MILAN, Italy --(Business Wire)-- May 7, 2004 -- AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that Genialloyd, the e-commerce division of Italian insurance company RAS and member of the Allianz Group, has deployed an AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based IBM eServer 325 platform to better manage customer data and more accurately analyze risk selection.
Based on AMD64 technology, the AMD Opteron processor features Direct Connect Architecture. AMD removed the front-side bus bottleneck and directly connected the processors, the memory controller and the I/O, resulting in improved overall system performance and efficiency. Genialloyd will combine the power of the AMD Opteron processor and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Server 2000 along with its own proprietary software to decrease costs and increase performance of its mission-critical web applications.
