International Packet Communications Consortium - IPCC - Hosts VoCable Services Demo For Cable Companies at IPCC Booth # 4064 at the NCTA Show

NEW ORLEANS --(Business Wire)-- May 4, 2004 -- See How you Can Create New Services, Use Integrated OSSs, Provide a Web Interface to Your Subscribers, and Test IP Quality over a Managed MPLS-based Backbone Network

The International Packet Communications Consortium (IPCC) announced today that it will host a demo of VoCable services at the The National Show (NCTA), May 3-5 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. The demo will show cable companies how they can create new customized services, use integrated OSSs, test different service levels, and provide web-based interfaces to their subscribers. Attendees will be able to test the quality of different service levels by making VoIP calls at the demo.

"I am extremely delighted that the IPCC will be exhibiting at NCTA this year and demoing VoCable services for cable companies at our booth," said Michael Khalilian, Chairman and President, IPCC. "In developing this demo, we drew heavily on the expertise of our member companies, many of whom are in the cable industry and working closely with cable companies to help them offer high quality VoCable services to their subscribers."

"Cable companies are beginning to realize that if they don't become proficient in VoIP in the next few years, their value proposition will disappear," Mr. Khalilian said. "They will soon face steep competition from satellite programmers as they team up with RBOCs who are already proficient in VoIP. Cable companies must align themselves with partners with the knowledge base, resources and the relationships in place to help them solve the complex problems they face in implementing VoCable. This includes interoperability issues in completing end-to-end phone calls, providing true E911 services, and complying with Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Activities (CALEA) and other regulatory requirements. The IPCC is just the partner organization to help them overcome these issues and take charge of their own destinies in this market."
