NEC Brazil and VocalData Join Forces to Capitalize on the Quickly Growing Next-Generation VoIP Opportunity in Brazil
SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- March 30, 2004 -- NEC Brazil Will Act as Systems Integrator and Reseller for VocalData in Brazilian Market
VocalData, Inc., an application developer of hosted IP telephony solutions, and NEC Brazil today announced that they have formed a strategic relationship to deliver advanced VoIP solutions to service providers in the Brazilian telecom market. Under the terms of the agreement, NEC Brazil will offer VocalData's leading application server to its service provider customers in Brazil -- acting both as a systems integrator for those companies and as a reseller for VocalData.
NEC Brazil and VocalData are already in joint trials with several Tier 1 and emerging players in Brazil. Driven by competition-enhancing regulations, the incumbent landline service providers are turning to VoIP to offer telephony services within their competitors' markets. Concurrently, long-distance and international voice carriers, as well as traditional data service providers, are starting to deploy IP-based voice networks with the goal of entering the local residential and corporate markets. These trends are certain to increase competition in Brazil and speed up the availability and adoption of enhanced voice services.
VocalData's partnership with NEC Brazil further expands VocalData's already impressive global reach, which today includes service providers from Asia, North America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand. VocalData's leading application server supports high-quality hosted IP telephony applications for telecom carriers worldwide, enabling them to reliably and cost-effectively deliver voice-over-IP solutions. VocalData today supports more than 150,000 deployed enhanced IP telephony lines, both business and residential.
We looked at many IP application servers in our quest to offer a carrier class Hosted IP Telephony solution for service providers in Brazil, and VocalData's application server stood out from the pack because of its superior scalability and its versatility, said Herberto Macoto Yamamuro, director of NEC Brazil's Carrier and Corporate Solution Business Unit. For instance, VocalData is the only hosted IP telephony provider to support both standard IP protocols such as SIP and MGCP as well as prevalent proprietary protocols such as SCCP and MiNET -- thus delivering the greatest equipment choice to our service provider customers and their end users. It also easily integrates with both legacy and next-generation equipment to ease the VoIP migration process for Brazilian service providers and their enterprise customers.
