Cartoon Network's JAVA Games Now Available in China Through Linktone

SHANGHAI, China, June 29 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Linktone Ltd. , a leading provider of wireless value-added services in China, and Cartoon Network, a Turner Broadcasting System Inc. company, are launching new Cartoon Network JAVA games in China. The new games further diversify the Cartoon Network 2.5G wireless services (MMS and WAP) already available through Linktone to millions of mobile users in China.

The innovative new JAVA games, designed for the China market, will include favorite Cartoon Network characters Tom & Jerry and The Powerpuff Girls. The first unveiled in late June to China mobile users is 'Tom & Jerry Cheese Chase', an action-packed game with rich graphics. This will be followed by the newly designed game 'The Powerpuff Girls Bad Mojo'. Linktone will distribute these games via their wireless services as part of a strategic partnership set up with Cartoon Network in June 2003. This alliance also allows Linktone to develop and distribute other Java games based on Cartoon Network's properties, which are expected to be launched later this year.
Raymond Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Linktone, commented: "We are very pleased to launch these new products in cooperation with Cartoon Network. While we continue to see strong growth from our SMS business, next generation services are expected to drive the next wave of wireless value-added services market growth. We intend to continue to expand our partnerships with both international and local content providers as we seek to build a comprehensive portfolio of non-SMS products with appealing features and strong brand recognition in order to ensure that Linktone is well positioned to capture new opportunities in the Chinese wireless market."
"We are very excited about the potential of the Chinese wireless value- added services market. We believe the extension of JAVA services will add significant value and deliver a unique experience to wireless users in China," said Ringo Chan, Vice President of Greater China, Turner International Asia Pacific Inc. He continued, "We are pleased with our partnership with Linktone, particularly with their extensive distribution and marketing capabilities. This alliance further solidifies our mission to expand the Cartoon Network brand and its properties across multiple platforms."
Other SMS, MMS and WAP products introduced by Cartoon Network and Linktone to China mobile users have included Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones and the Powerpuff Girls animated wallpapers and games.
