Stratecast Partners Knocks One Out of the Park with AT&T Consumer Prediction

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- July 28, 2004 -- If you require reporting on telecom industry events, pick up a copy of the Wall Street Journal or engage any number of research firms tracking telecom...if, however, you want detailed and accurate predictions and insights on how the telecom industry will evolve and look years from now, then you must engage Stratecast.

Here's a verbatim subset of what we said two years ago in a report entitled Stratecast 2002: Strategic Assessment and Forecast of the U.S. Communications Services Market:

"Stratecast Partners expects that AT&T Business will be the absolute focal point of AT&T in the months to come. We also expect that AT&T will make the strategic decision, quite astutely, to essentially forsake the Consumer market. We believe AT&T will pursue this path based on the fact that the company is not a leading consumer ISP, does not own a mobile wireless platform of its own, does not possess a well defined residential broadband access plan, and does not have a means of providing facilities-based local voice services to consumers. AT&T's long-term success will be determined by its ability to drive business customers to enhanced data/IP services as RBOCs gain additional 271 approvals to provide in-region LD services, and by its ability to bolster its international strategy and operations to better serve MNCs."

Adds Stratecast co-founder Mike Galvin, "What's interesting is that we could cite at least four or so additional published reports from Stratecast in which we reaffirmed and elaborated upon this to us inevitable prediction. Further, we've delivered insights on and related to this event and what it means to specific companies on innumerable occasions to our paying customers."
