Vodavi Releases Second Generation Telenium IP System
PHOENIX --(Business Wire)-- July 15, 2004 -- Increased Capacity and Advanced Networking Features Added; Pure IP Voice Mail/Unified Messaging Solution Also Introduced
Vodavi Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:VTEK), a provider of business telecommunications solutions, today announced expanded capability on its flagship LAN-based phone system, the Telenium IP, and the introduction of PathFinder IP, a pure IP solution for advanced voice messaging and unified messaging applications. The new Telenium IP version release supports increased port capacity of up to 300 ports per system and provides multi-system, multi-location networking capability for centralizing services and reliable handling of larger call volumes. In addition, the new IP version of Vodavi's popular Windows(R)-based voice messaging system, the PathFinder IP, has been introduced to complement the Telenium IP telephony solution. Together, small to medium business customers can implement these products for a complete, single vendor IP solution for call processing and advanced voice mail/unified messaging.
Alpha Integrated Systems Inc., a Vodavi Authorized Gold Dealer, installed the new Telenium IP at a South Carolina medical facility. The new facility was designed to include only state-of-the-art technology such as the new, centralized communication network consisting of two 300-port Telenium IP systems and PathFinder IP for voice processing. The Telenium IP system effectively handles between 200 and 400 calls per hour during peak times and is providing this customer with several benefits over a conventional telephone system, noted Mark Oelhafen, president of Alpha Integrated Systems Inc. "Because our customer was installing a network of state-of-the-art medical equipment, the data network put in place was equally impressive," said Oelhafen. "The ability for the Vodavi product to piggy-back off the existing IP network wiring was a huge plus and resulted in reduced infrastructure costs. The customer was also eager to have the flexibility to handle administrative tasks such as moving phones around with no reprogramming required as well as when moves, adds and changes did need to be conducted, those tasks could be handled remotely without the need for a person to travel on-site."
According to ABI Research, most enterprise voice systems purchased over the next several years will be IP based. The research firm said IP PBX seat shipments (licensed end-user ports on an IP phone system) will grow from 3.2 million in 2003 to 26 million by 2006. ABI cites improvements in IP PBX and IP phone features and stability, as well as interest in deploying converged voice/data applications in enterprises, as the growth drivers of IP PBXs.(a)
The main benefits of implementing an IP telephony solution include the increased functionality provided by end user-controlled applications, simplified administrative tasks such as no reprogramming necessary to move a phone, reduced toll charges between distant locations and Web-based administration for easy system programming and remote administration.
"This next phase in our IP migration is an important addition to our product portfolio and offers our customers a clear choice in implementing their IP requirements," said Gregory K. Roeper, Vodavi's president and chief executive officer. He added, "The Telenium IP is an innovative system and is a solid choice for growth-oriented businesses interested in taking full advantage of the benefits VoIP has to offer, such as telecommuting, reduced infrastructure and administrative costs, and future developments in IP technology. Regardless of the customer requirements, be it a traditional phone system, an IP converged system, or a complete LAN-based system, Vodavi has the solution."
About Telenium IP and PathFinder IP
Vodavi's next generation Telenium IP system allows enterprises to integrate call processing and IP routing onto a single IP data network for all their voice communications application. Previously available up to 96 ports, the expanded Telenium IP now supports up to 300 ports with any combination of stations (250 maximum) or CO lines (200 maximum) and extends the system beyond a single LAN with support for multi-system, multi-location networking and remote worker capability. Telenium IP offers the popular features available on traditional key systems such as 4-digit dialing, conferencing, call forwarding, centralized voice mail, auto-attendant and Automatic Call Distribution (ACD).
PathFinder IP is the next step in Vodavi's voice processing migration plan. This 8, 12 or 16-port, software only-based system, provides all the robust features to improve their voice, fax and e-mail desktop communications as the traditional PathFinder. The primary advantage of the IP-based PathFinder is that it fully operates without the need for ancillary hardware cards currently required on its predecessor.
