Trapeze Networks Provides Campus-Wide WLAN for Exclusive Swiss School

PLEASANTON, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 6, 2004 -- Institut Le Rosey, Switzerland's oldest private school, today announced that it has chosen Trapeze Networks(TM), an award winning provider of enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) Mobility Systems(TM), to provide the school's students and staff with wireless access across its campus in Rolle. Deployed using over 110 Trapeze Mobility Points(TM) (access points) connected to four MX-20 Mobility Switches(TM), the WLAN was installed in conjunction with Trapeze's local channel partner, Telecom Systems.

Established in 1880, Le Rosey is one of the world's most exclusive schools boasting ex-pupils such as the Duke of Kent, Dodie Fayed, Prince Rainier of Monaco and 2004's Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry. The school is also believed to be the only school in the world to span two seasonal campuses. In spring and autumn, classes are held in the facilities near the village of Rolle between Lausanne and Geneva. For the winter term, the entire student body moves to Gstaad, home to the world's most elite ski resort and where skiing is part of the school's curriculum.

Trapeze had to develop a system to support the school's requirement for a secure, flexible and reliable WLAN that could blend seamlessly with the existing LAN infrastructure and school's historical buildings.

"We installed the Trapeze Mobility System at the Rolle and Gstaad campus and the feedback has been very positive," explained Jean-Jacques Pioger, IT manager at Institut Le Rosey. "The Trapeze Mobility System provides excellent security and amazing tools that plan, configure and manage the air, while lowering the total cost of ownership. The Trapeze value proposition is extremely compelling and has proved very successful with users."

The Trapeze WLAN is used mainly by students and teaching staff to check email, explore resources on the web and access the school's online resources.
