Rex - The Talking Prescription Bottle Up for Speech Solution Award

PITTSBURGH --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 18, 2004 -- Wizzard Software Corp. (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that Rex, the talking prescription bottle, is up for Best Embedded Solution at the 2004 Fourth Annual Speech Solutions Awards sponsored by Speech Technology Magazine. Speech Technology Magazine focuses on the development, application and integration of speech technology for business and consumer applications. The bi-monthly publication features in-depth articles on the emerging speech technology industry ranging from new product highlights to successful product deployments and insightful articles about the industry's leaders. Speech Technology Magazine is considered by many as the one of the most influential publications in the speech industry.

"Approximately 100,000 individuals die each year and billions of dollars are spent annually treating individuals who take medication improperly. Rex is a self-contained, disposable prescription bottle that uses text-to-speech technology (TTS) to read the medication information and instructions in a very natural computer generated voice," said Gene Franz, Products and Channels General Manager for Wizzard Software. "As the pharmacist prepares a prescription label, the same information is turned into audio and recorded onto the bottle. The user needs only to push a button on the bottle to hear the instructions. Rex is a wonderful assistive device for the blind, visually and cognitively impaired and other patients who have difficulty understanding how to properly take their medication. I believe Rex can make a huge contribution to saving lives and reducing health care cost."

The awards will be handed out at SpeechTEK 2004, to be held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, September 13th through the 16th. SpeechTEK is a world premier event dedicated exclusively to speech products, applications and solutions. Wizzard Software will again be participating in this event, the speech industry's number one trade show and educational forum. Wizzard will interact with a global network of vendors, enterprise executives and decision makers who are developing and implementing speech technology worldwide.

In addition to participating in the conference, Wizzard will also be represented at several educational sessions to be conducted during the four-day event. SpeechTEK invited Gene Franz to moderate a SpeechTEK panel for the government sector and Tony Mariano, co-creator of Rex, to make a presentation in the health care sector.

Finally, for the third year in a row, Chris Spencer, Wizzard's co-founder and CEO, is up for the award of `Top 10 Leaders in Speech'. This recognition is given to the ten most influential people in the speech technology industry over the previous year.
