Kagoor Delivers Session Border Control Solution For Voice over Broadband

Kagoor Networks, a leader in session
border control solutions, today announced its Voice over Broadband (VoBB) solution to enable MSOs and Carriers to securely and seamlessly deliver VoIP via cable and xDSL. Kagoor's VoiceFlow series of session border controllers are being deployed to address NAT traversal, security and peering requirements in the rapidly evolving VoBB marketplace. Kagoor is the established leader in carrier to customer session border control applications and is further extending this market leadership into the cable/MSO market arena.

Leading carriers and MSOs are utilizing Kagoor's VoBB solution to serve their residential and small business cable and xDSL customers. Today, in a separate announcement, Kagoor announced that the solution was deployed by Kintetsu Cable Network (KCN) to deliver VoIP via cable and ADSL (see Kagoor Networks' Session Border Control Deployed by Kintetsu Cable Network in Japan). This is the first announced deployment of session border controllers in a VoIP cable network. Telco service providers, including Covad, Reynwood Communications, USA Datanet and Elitel are deploying Kagoor's VoiceFlow to deliver VoIP to their broadband customers.

The VoiceFlow VoBB solution for cable providers is compatible with the CableLabs PacketCable network architecture and supports its Call Management Server Signaling (CMSS) protocol specification based on the SIP protocol.
This provides cable operators with the ability to exchange packet-based voice and other real-time multimedia applications with other cable operators and IP carriers, without requiring that the traffic first be terminated to TDM interfaces. VoiceFlow also supports the Network-based Call signaling
(NCS) protocol for communicating signaling information between the endpoint and a CMS. MSOs are utilizing both protocols to deploy and deliver VoBB service.

"VoBB will be a key area in the growth of VoIP," said Jon Arnold, voice-over-packet program leader for Frost & Sullivan. "MSOs will use VoBB service as a key competitive advantage against the Telcos and satellite providers. Session border controllers like Kagoor's VoiceFlow series will play an important role in the growth of this important market."

The VoBB solution incorporates Kagoor's unique 3-Way Architecture, its carrier VoiceFlow 3000 and 1000 series products for both peering and line-side applications to maximize functionality and interoperability. The VoiceFlow series improves the efficiencies of the service operation management by completely eliminating Internet Protocol address issues for both cable and Telco providers. In addition, Kagoor's network protection provides topology hiding and protection from denial of service attacks.

"Kagoor has a field proven solution that has been implemented by both carriers and MSOs, which is a key differentiator compared to our competitors," said Opher Kahane, Co-founder and CEO for Kagoor Networks.
"Carriers and MSOs are benefiting from the most interoperable, secure and cost effective session border control solution available for their Voice over Broadband needs."
