Cushcraft Completes Optimal RF Integration

MANCHESTER, N.H. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 10, 2004 -- Cushcraft Corp., a Manchester, N.H. based supplier of enhanced performance antennas, is proud to announce the acquisition and integration of Optimal RF, a San Diego based designer of high performance wireless communication products and networking antennas. Cushcraft has acquired all assets of Optimal RF, including existing products, customer service contracts, designs, IP and equipment.

Cushcraft has become the world's largest supplier of enhanced performance antennas for wireless LAN applications, and is a major supplier of antennas for commercial wireless applications, including In-building Cellular and Broadband Fixed Wireless as well as emerging applications such as RFID. Key elements of Cushcraft's success are its ability to effectively design and develop high performance antennas with a directed focus to drive down the cost curve without sacrificing performance.

With the acquisition of Optimal RF, Cushcraft now has the industry's most comprehensive and advanced line of antennas for Wimax and related (802.16) applications. Optimal RF founders Dr. John Sanford and Dr. Peter Slettman are acknowledged leaders in the design and development of antennas that enhance system spectral efficiency. They bring with them a proprietary set of the world's most advanced tools for antenna synthesis. The merger of these two organizations creates a powerful engine for the development of Commercial Wireless antennas that enhance system performance while maintaining market conscious price points. Cushcraft has recently started shipping products from its newly acquired portfolio.

"An antenna's ability to truly enhance system performance while not adding cost is a critical component to the development of the next generation of commercial wireless systems," commented Jim Nugnes, Cushcraft VP of Sales and Marketing.

"The combination of Cushcraft's highly efficient manufacturing processes and Optimal RF's advanced electromagnetic optimization capabilities gives us a long term competitive advantage providing products and solutions for Broadband Wireless Systems, RFID and virtually any contemporary or next generation commercial wireless system," said Gregory Czuba, Cushcraft's president and CEO.

"This merger is a mating of powerful, complimentary skill sets and capabilities. I believe the industry will find this to be a compelling combination coming at a time when it is clearly calling upon those within the antenna community to provide solutions that signal a departure from past notions of what an antenna represents from the perspective of total system performance and value," said Dr. John Sanford.
