World's Most Advanced Swimming Pool Security System Uses Submarine Sonar Technology; SonarGuard is the only 24/7 System to Provide Immediate Detection
IRVINE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- April 28, 2004 -- RJE Technologies has taken its expertise in advanced diver sonar and navigation equipment and created SonarGuard(R), the world's first invisible and fully automated sonar-based swimming pool security system.
The proprietary sonar technology, formerly reserved for military naval vessels and commercial aircraft, now offers consumers a level of safety previously unavailable.
SonarGuard is the first and only water safety system integrated below the water's surface using advanced sonar acoustics. When a child falls into the pool, the "sonar-net" is broken and immediately triggers a distinct-sounding alarm that mimics a submarine's "ping," alerting those inside and outside the house. This unique sound enables parents to hear and distinguish SonarGuard's signal above cell phones, music systems, and other electronic gadgets.
SonarGuard was designed to offer as much fail-safe protection as possible by removing human error. Whereas most home and pool alarm systems require diligent human interaction and are subject to false alarms and malfunctions, SonarGuard eliminates the need for that interaction. Once the unit is activated, the parent or guardian sets it to standby when the pool is in use. Reactivation does not depend on owner memory; SonarGuard always reactivates automatically, thereby ensuring pool security 24/7.
Also unlike other systems, the SonarGuard technology differentiates between a child falling into the pool vs. inanimate objects such as a ball or other toys, eliminating false alarms. It is unaffected by weather conditions such as wind and rain, as well.
Perhaps most significantly, is the ability to use SonarGuard effectively in virtually any pool, regardless of size or shape. Today's non-standard pool designs are making it impossible to use such traditional first-lines of defense as automatic pool covers. Since sonar technology works under water using sound waves, it is able to reach every part of the pool.
"When it comes to child safety, the stakes are simply too high to take chances," said Robert Jechart, president of RJE Technologies. "You want to know that you're utilizing the very best system to safeguard your child's life. SonarGuard(R) provides that extra layer of security."
Jechart developed SonarGuard(R) in response to alarming statistics on accidental drownings. According to the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, drowning is the greatest summertime risk for children ages 14 and under. The risk increases during the summer months to 96 percent above average. For every child who drowns, four more are hospitalized for near drowning.
Jechart and his team drew upon the company's history of manufacturing systems that leave no room for error and rely on mission critical technology. RJE spent five years and conducted more than 7,000 tests to perfect and ensure system performance, integrity and reliability. In March 2004, Fast Company named Jechart as one of Fast Company's "Fast 50" innovators.
RJE Technologies was created in 1999 as an offshoot of its sister company, RJE International, founded in 1991. RJE International is a leader in supplying advanced sonar technology and equipment to military, commercial aviation and diving industries. Both companies are based in Irvine, California.
