Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Debuts Two Multi-Media DVD Players; Progressive Scan Players Play or Decode Seven Formats

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- April 19, 2004 -- Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America today introduced two DVD players that can read and decode a wide selection of disc formats. Mitsubishi debuted the DVD players, which will be available at selected retailers in June, at its annual dealer line show here.

Mitsubishi's DD-6050 is a progressive scan DVD player that can play CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, and decode JPEG, Kodak Picture CD and MP3 files. It also gives the user the ability to adjust image color, tint and gamma during DVD playback.

The new DD-8050 has all of the features of the DD-6050, plus a deluxe suite of digital audio capabilities. Sound will never suffer, as the DD-8050 sports six analog audio output jacks (left, right, center, rear left, rear right and subwoofer) and built-in DVD-Audio, SACD, DTS(R) and Dolby Digital(R) 5.1 decoders, for faithful audio reproduction. This combination of jacks and decoders allows the customer to connect it to a six-channel input or surround-sound receiver, no matter what type of disc is played.

"The new Mitsubishi DVD players offer an unprecedented combination of sound and picture performance," says Max Wasinger, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. "They bring out the best from any media, be it music, movies, or photos. The owner can manage individual color output, and actually improve on the original image. And with the DD-8050's audio suite, concert-like acoustics are easily attained."

In separate announcements, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America introduced its new lines of LCD and plasma displays, Digital Cable Ready projection televisions, Digital Cable Ready microdisplay projection televisions, and its expanded line of DVD players, HD digital recorders and analog VHS recorders.
