Datalex Internet Booking Technology Optimizes Passenger Revenue for Transavia Airlines
DUBLIN, Ireland & AMSTERDAM, Netherlands --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 21, 2004 -- Award winning innovation decreases distribution costs and boosts online sales for Dutch airline
Transavia Airlines, part of the KLM Group, which operates scheduled services and charter flights and the low-cost, low-fare Basiq Air scheduled services to over 70 destinations, has recently gone live with its Web booking site, which was jointly developed by leading technology provider Datalex, and Swart Development BV.
The system uses the TPF scripting tool, T2SE (Turbo TPF Scripting Engine), which was previously developed by Datalex's TPF consulting division in conjunction with KLM. The solution facilitates high performance transaction capabilities with CORDA, KLM's TPF-based reservations system, delivering immediate fare information with an availability calendar to Transavia's Web site. The solution also supports full access to credit card payment facilities provided by Bibit Global Payment Services.
Praising the enormous value brought to the project by Datalex/Swart Development's technology and their competency in delivering the successful solution, Paul Fleers, V.P. Direct Marketing and Sales, Transavia, said, "The end result is clear. Our investment with Datalex and Swart Development has provided us with a practical, innovative solution targeted to our specific market. Since the introduction of our new Internet booking engine, our Internet sales have risen to 85-90 % of all bookings. Costs per booking have decreased considerably...from dollars to only cents."
Datalex is the e-Business solutions' supplier of choice for some of the world's leading airlines including Aer Lingus, United Airlines, KLM, Singapore Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Emirates, which have used its technology to achieve greater control of their inventory, manage yield, reduce costs and create more value for their customers. Officially recognized as the World's Leading Internet Booking Engine Technology Provider at the 2003 Annual World Travel Awards, Datalex has made a major contribution to the advancement of information technology within the global airline industry for the past twenty years.
"It is very rewarding to see such an immediate return on our clients' investment in us, and to know that our technology is making a difference to airlines as they are trying to reduce costs and operate more efficiently," said Aidan Brogan, SVP Sales and Marketing, Datalex. "We are continually looking at new ways to enhance our solutions to make fare distribution more efficient, and to create more value for customers with additional services such as dynamic packaging of air travel with other direct sources of inventory, including hotel accommodation and car rental."
Datalex's range of airline solutions are implemented for all aspects of airline supply chain infrastructure including Internet booking engines, middleware platforms, which integrate passenger reservation, baggage and frequent flyer systems, and the distribution of air fares to consolidators, agencies and online portals. Datalex is also one of the largest independent outsourcers of TPF/ALCS (Transaction Processing Facility/Airline Control System) consulting in the world.
