Kintera's Online Tools Assist North American Mission Board in Serving 42,000 Southern Baptist Churches
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 9, 2004 -- The North American Mission Board (NAMB) searched long and hard for a technology partner that not only offers software robust enough to empower the faith-based organization in its service to more than 42,000 Southern Baptist Churches, but one that also understands the nonprofit space. In making the final decision, the organization turned to a solutions provider that it already knew and trusted -- Kintera(R) Inc. (NASDAQ:KNTA).
Kintera had worked with NAMB in 2003, providing web-based infrastructure and online tools for the launch of the One in a Million Prayer website (www.oneinamillionprayer.com), a call to prayer with a mission to enlist over one million Southern Baptists to pray for revival in America.
In order to effectively reach and manage information for NAMB's 42 Southern Baptist state conventions -- comprised of 1,200 regional associations, which include 16 million church members -- Kintera will oversee and enhance many new websites currently being supported by NAMB (www.namb.net). The websites will be built on the Kintera Sphere(TM) software platform, featuring comprehensive Content Management System (CMS) technology with an array of contact management, communication and fundraising tools.
Highlights of the NAMB online technology package provided by Kintera include:
-- Tools for email and eNewsletter communications that enable NAMB to effectively communicate targeted and personalized messages to the Southern Baptist Convention.
-- Online registration tools to identify and support over 16 million Southern Baptists.
-- Contact Relationship Management (CRM) tools such as a task manager, contact and registration forms and a web editor to provide a unified database and comprehensive functionality for millions of NAMB contact records.
-- Kintera's Friends Asking Friends(R) solicitation system designed to maximize donations by offering supporters personalized websites and an email system to encourage contributions.
-- CMS technology that provides a sophisticated yet simple-to-use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for delivering database-driven content from various websites.
"We needed Internet software that would help us reach out to the Southern Baptist Convention on every level as we spread our message," said Dr. Bob Reccord, president of the North American Mission Board. "Kintera's online tools allow us to connect with our churches throughout the U.S. as well as Canada, Guam and American Samoa, providing evangelical Christians real-time information and the ability to manage and disseminate this news to others."
The first phase of the NAMB website to go live was the Acts 1:8 Challenge (www.ActsOne8.com), a challenge to the Southern Baptist Convention members to expand the organization's global outreach by embracing a comprehensive mission strategy at the local, state, national and international levels. Website visitors can gather information on the mission, search for regional associations by zip code to register for the cause, send emails to family and friends encouraging them to participate, download a variety of testimonial videos and PowerPoint presentations, and much more.
"We are glad that Kintera's web-based technology is helping the Southern Baptist Convention and other nonprofit organizations succeed," said Kintera's co-founder and CEO, Harry Gruber, M.D. "The Internet can be a powerful force in bringing together people with a common goal, and mission."
