IDG's Computerworld Names Don Tennant Editor in Chief; Martha Connors Appointed Vice President, General Manager, Computerworld.com

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 1, 2004 -- Computerworld, "The Voice of IT Management," today announced two key executive appointments, signaling continued growth in its print and online publishing businesses.

Veteran technology journalist Don Tennant, who has led Computerworld's news team for the past four and a half years, has been promoted to editor in chief. Prior to joining Computerworld U.S., Tennant spent eight years as editor in chief of Computerworld Hong Kong. Tennant replaces Maryfran Johnson, who leaves Computerworld to launch a startup venture.

"We thank Maryfran for her long tenure of outstanding service, including her five years as editor in chief. She and Don Tennant have led a stellar editorial team that brought home the 2004 Magazine of the Year award from the Association of Business Publication Editors, along with nearly two dozen other honors," said Bob Carrigan, publisher and CEO of Computerworld. "Don is the right leader to continue building on our position as one of the top media companies."

As vice president and general manager for Computerworld's web site, Computerworld.com, Martha Connors will be charged with building on the success of the top-tier enterprise IT site, which has been honored as one of BtoB Magazine's Media Power 50 and has achieved 31% revenue growth over 2003. Previously chief operating officer and executive vice president for Technology Review, Connors will be charged with increasing Computerworld.com's audience, currently averaging 1 million unique visitors per month. She will also be responsible for creating new advertising and sponsorship offerings and innovative information services to deliver increasing value to enterprise IT readers.

"These are exciting times for Computerworld, as independent analysts and associations continue to recognize the quality and substance of our brand, editorial content, and people," Carrigan continued. "We are also seeing tremendous growth in our Strategic Programs & Events group, which manages Storage Networking World(R), Computerworld Honors Program(R), Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference(R), and Mobile & Wireless World(R). This year we launched several new events, including Enterprise Management World(R), Business Intelligence Perspectives(R), and the Computerworld IT Executive Summit Series.

"Computerworld remains a powerful, forward-looking brand, even after 37 years, and we welcome the energy and vitality these new leaders will bring," Carrigan concluded.
