RFID Market Revolution is Focus of CompTIA Cybercast

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 25, 2004 -- CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, this week will hold the first of four Web-based cybercasts on challenges, opportunities and strategies related to radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

"Tagged for Change - The RFID Revolution" is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CT on Thursday, October 28. The program will address the coming growth curve in RFID and how it will impact the deliver channel. Featured speaker Greg Dixon, chief technology officer for ScanSource, Inc., a leading international value-added distributor of specialty technology products, will discuss the impact of customer-mandated RFID adoption on the market and delivery channels.

The RFID cybercast is free for CompTIA members and $45(US) for non-members.


Future programs in the CompTIA RFID cybercast series include:

-- November 4 - "How Physics Can Solve Your RFID Puzzle." Patrick J. Sweeney II, chief executive officer of ODIN technologies, the leader in the physics of RFID testing, solution design and deployment, and the author of the upcoming book RFID for Dummies, will discuss the use of physics to make RFID work in the real world.

-- November 11 - "Five Critical Steps for a Successful RFID Deployment." ODIN technologies' Patrick J. Sweeney II will discuss common pitfalls and success factors in RFID projects.

-- November 18 - "Getting Ready for RFID: The User Speaks." Richard Morrissey, director, e-business strategy for American Power Conversion, a leading provider of global, end-to-end solutions for real-time infrastructure, will discuss his experience in readying APC for RFID.
