Wireless Access Free for Reporters Covering Kerry/Clinton Rally in Philly on Monday; City Addresses Digital Divide with Free Wireless Access in Love Park

--(Business Wire)-- -0- *T WHAT: Wireless access will be available for reporters covering the Kerry/Clinton "Fresh Start for America" rally at Love Park in Philadelphia this Monday, October 25. Anyone with a wireless-enabled laptop can take advantage of this service. The wireless access is a continued part of Philadelphia's efforts to close the digital divide. According to Dianah Neff, the City's chief information officer, the City plans to offer free wireless access in public areas using Wi-Fi, and free or lower-cost connections could also extend to households or businesses that qualify for economic assistance. The City expects the project to be started by June and completed a year later. WHO: Tropos Networks provides the equipment used in municipal broadband wireless networks in Philadelphia, San Mateo, Calif. and Chaska, Minn., among other cities nationwide.
