Cedar Point Communications Co-Founder Mark Galvin Named Mass High Tech 2004 'All-Star'

DERRY, N.H. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 21, 2004 -- Mark Galvin, co-founder of Cedar Point Communications, the leader in integrated packet-based voice and multimedia switching technologies for the cable telecommunications industry, last night was named a 2004 All-Star by Mass High Tech, the journal of New England technology.

Galvin, an entrepreneurial force behind Cedar Point's development of the first integrated, packet-based voice switch for the cable industry, was honored with 13 other technology leaders in a gala event at the Fleet Center. Befitting the Boston location, the event combined the All-Star festivities with a telecast of the Red Sox's Game 7 victory over the Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

"In the past two weeks, Cedar Point has announced major agreements with Comcast, Net2Phone and Motorola, all of which will speed the deployment of our SAFARI C(Cubed) Media Switching System," said Andy Paff, president and CEO of Cedar Point Communications. "Those successes are a tribute to the ability of Mark Galvin and George Kassas, the co-founders, to identify and fill real needs for the cable industry."

An expert in Wide Area Networks (WAN) and digital telephony standards, Mr. Galvin co-founded Cedar Point Communications in September of 2000. Previously, he had successfully founded RAScom a manufacturer of data communications equipment which ultimately would be acquired by Lucent Technologies, and Primary Rate Incorporated, a manufacturer of WAN and digital network subsystems, which was merged into Xircom.

SAFARI C(Cubed) is the only totally integrated carrier class VoIP switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable(TM) voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.

Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony and multimedia services, the PacketCable(TM)-qualified SAFARI C(Cubed) provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
