Global Crossing Provides Dedicated Internet Access Services to The Coca-Cola Company

ATLANTA and BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Crossing announced today that it is providing Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) service to several Latin American offices of The Coca- Cola Company. The two-year service agreement signed in January provides Coca- Cola's offices in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru with direct connectivity via Global Crossing's MPLS-based, global IP network.

Global Crossing's DIA service connects Coca-Cola's facilities in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru to the global Internet, providing high bandwidth connectivity and enabling Coca-Cola to utilize Global Crossing's MPLS-based IP network platform to build its own Internet Protocol virtual private network (IP VPN).
"We selected Global Crossing because of its network quality, dedicated account support, flexible approach, online network management and cost- effective pricing," said Chang Soo Chun, IS director, South Latin Division, The Coca-Cola Company. "The company's DIA service is a perfect fit for our needs."
Global Crossing's comprehensive, end-to-end network management system monitors traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week for unsurpassed reliability, and its DIA service provides customers like Coca-Cola with always-on, direct high-speed connectivity to the Internet.
"This agreement reinforces Global Crossing's outstanding position in Latin America as a high-quality services provider to companies with strong local and global presence, such as The Coca-Cola Company," said Jose Antonio Rios, international president and chief administrative officer of Global Crossing. "We're thrilled to have signed this agreement with Coca-Cola, and we look forward to supporting their ongoing requirements for global connectivity and services."
As a Global Tier 1 provider, Global Crossing is connected with every major Tier 1 ISP in the world, reaching 100 percent of the Internet. Global Crossing's Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) service offers Internet connectivity to all worldwide domains using a meshed network that incorporates true global IP over Multiprotocol Label Switching-traffic engineering (MPLS-te) as a backbone transport technology, providing the ultimate in network resiliency and flexibility. Global Crossing provides customers with always on, direct high-speed connectivity to the Internet at speeds ranging from 56/64 Kbps to OC48/STM16, as well as Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet on a global basis. DIA service can also be accessed via a Frame Relay or ATM network using FR to IP or ATM to IP interworking.
