XIMETA Introduces All-in-One Storage and Wireless Networking for the Digital Living Room

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 14, 2004 -- Previews New Storage and Connectivity Products Targeted at Home Entertainment and Sony PlayStation2 Owners

XIMETA Inc. (www.ximeta.com), the leader in storing and connecting digital content in the home, today announced that NetDisk(TM) Wireless, the industry's first combined external storage and high-speed wireless networking device, will be available for purchase at leading electronics retailers in time for the 2004 holiday shopping season. Unlike competing solutions which require consumers to purchase a wireless router and an external hard drive separately, XIMETA's innovative NetDisk Wireless combines a 160GB external hard drive and an 802.11g wireless access point router in a single device -- providing consumers with everything required to set up a wireless home network and begin sharing digital content and Internet connection throughout the home.

XIMETA will be previewing NetDisk Wireless for the first time to media, industry analysts and the public at Ziff Davis' DigitalLife conference (Booth #1858) held on October 14-17, 2004 at the Jacobs K. Javits Convention Center in New York. The company will also offer a sneak peek of two new home entertainment products, XIMETA's media player software that transforms the Sony PlayStation2 into a media gateway -- and XIMETA mediashare mini, to DigitalLife attendees.

NetDisk Wireless provides enough storage capacity to store 160,000 digital photos or 40,000 MP3 files, and ships with leading backup and security software from Symantec, giving consumers an out-of-the-box home networking starter kit. Once installed, the 160GB of storage will appear as a local drive on every computer connected to the network, providing unmatched ease-of-use for consumers and home office users alike. NetDisk Wireless features a four-port Fast-Ethernet switch and is compatible with DSL, cable and wireless access modems/routers. The NetDisk Wireless will be available at a suggested retail price of $349.99.

"To date, the beauty of a wireless networking was being able to share an internet connection," said Edward Park, CEO of XIMETA. "With NetDisk Wireless, we've taken things to a whole new level by allowing consumers to not only share an internet connection, but allowing them to store and share their photos, music and video without wires."

Aiming to rapidly bring the digital living room to life, XIMETA will also show two new home entertainment products at DigitalLife:

-- XIMETA's media player software transforms a networked Sony PlayStation2 into a digital media player capable of receiving and decoding digital video, audio or images streamed over a home network from a NetDisk. With this software, PS2 users can create their own personal digital content on demand system and will be able to watch digital movies, listen to digital music or view digital pictures in the comfort of their living room. The software will be available for purchase on XIMETA's e-store in late 2004.

-- XIMETA mediashare mini features an NDAS enabled external hard drive and analog audio-visual connections. The size of an index card, the portable hard drive can hold up to 200 hours of videos or 20 full length MPEG4 movies. With mediashare mini, people can play high quality digital movies, music and pictures generated on their PCs in their living rooms on any TV with a analog audio-visual connection. XIMETA mediashare mini supports DIVX(5.0/4.0/3.0), DVD/SVCD/VCD(3.0/2.0/1.0), CD, MP3, JPEG and MPEG1-4 formats and features a 40GB hard drive; the new device will be available from retailers and distributors in Q1 2005.
