China's Largest Life Insurance Company Selects Optibase's Advanced Video Platforms for Live Broadcast Solution

HERZLIYA, Israel & BEIJING --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 22, 2004 -- China Life, China's largest life insurance company, selected Optibase's advanced video encoding platforms (Nasdaq:OBAS) to enable live delivery of company meetings to its 2,000 branches.

China Life sells its products through an extensive distribution network of exclusive agents; direct sales representatives and agencies throughout China. In order to improve internal communications among its employees, China Life chose to implement a live broadcast conferencing system capable of delivering company meetings and training sessions live, via IP networks.

The company partnered with Shine Multimedia Ltd. to design a system based on the Optibase MPEG MovieMaker encoder that sends unicast streams to broadcast servers in each of the company's divisions throughout China. Either desktop players or set-top boxes can play back the video stream.

"Optibase's platforms coupled with advanced video conferencing equipment created a high quality system that did not require expensive and complicated network upgrades," said Mr. Qin of Shine Multimedia. "This provides a huge benefit for our customer."
