ReQuest Multimedia Selects Antepo For Cross-Platform Enterprise Instant Messaging

OPN System Meets Key Requirements for Active Directory Integration, Kerberos Security, Single Sign-on Authentication, and Multi-Server Support

NEW YORK – November 22, 2004 – Antepo, Inc. (www.antepo.com), a pioneer of secure, interoperable Enterprise Instant Messaging (EIM), today announced that ReQuest Multimedia, the leader in digital audio and video systems, has selected OPN System 4.5 as its company standard EIM platform. ReQuest will deploy OPN System to enable real-time communication and collaboration internally, as well as externally with global customers and distributors.

“Antepo has provided us with an easy-to-use yet sophisticated application for enterprise instant messaging that addresses our exact needs – including multi-platform support, integration with our existing Active Directory/LDAP database, and support for Kerberos credentials,” said Justin Baugh, IT Manager at ReQuest Multimedia. “No other solution on the market could fulfill these needs – it’s as simple as that.”

ReQuest initially sought an EIM solution to help its support staff more efficiently address client inquiries, and collaborate with other team members on responses in real-time. Though the company’s employees had a range of consumer IM tools installed on their desktops for personal use, there was no single network in place for inter-office communications. ReQuest decided to deploy and promote the use of a company-standard IM tool that was designed to fit within its existing IT environment, and to offer security and monitoring in addition to the benefits of a single platform.

In looking for an EIM solution, ReQuest turned to Jabber.org for information. After testing its Open Source Server, the company quickly realized it needed a full client-server solution. Because of ReQuest’s cross-platform IT environment, which includes a mix of UNIX and Windows, with Linux, Free BSD and Windows 2003 servers, the search was immediately narrowed down to just two solutions: Jabber XCP and Antepo OPN System. Antepo made it easy for ReQuest to obtain a free, fully-functional trial download of OPN System, which gave users an opportunity to test it first-hand before purchasing – a key advantage. In addition to addressing its needs for multi-platform support and single-sign-on authentication with Active Directory and Kerberos, ReQuest found that OPN System was easier to use, and offered more advanced business functionality than the competition.

“Overall, the Antepo solution was more polished than anything else we looked at,” added Mr. Baugh. “Ultimately, it was the feel of OPN System that convinced us – it was easy and intuitive, in some cases even simpler to use than some of the consumer products out there.”

In making the decision to deploy OPN System for its support team, ReQuest quickly recognized the benefits of adopting the solution across its entire organization, for both internal and external communications.

ReQuest is planning to complete its rollout of OPN System by December 2004.
