EAN Netherlands Chooses Transora as Data Pool Service and Synchronization Provider
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 9, 2004 -- EAN Netherlands announced today it has selected Chicago-based Transora as the new Data Pool service and synchronization technology provider for its data alignment service, EAN DAS. EAN Netherlands is the third EAN Member Organization to adopt Transora's Data Synchronization Solution as their standard-based data synchronization platform, after Mexico and Chile.
"We needed a new platform to meet the evolving requirements of our members," said Ton ten Dam, Manager of the Services Department of EAN Netherlands. "Transora is perfectly positioned to meet the local market needs. Since its launch five years ago, EAN DAS has grown considerably and the new platform will allow us to focus even more on managing our data community, such as providing individual implementation support to our members. Furthermore, the Transora solution is compliant with the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) standards, which is becoming more and more important to our members for their cross-border business needs."
Transora's solution provides EAN member organizations with state-of-the-art technology support, value-added services for their trading partners, and the ability to manage their communities without having to build their own technology platform.
"EAN DAS' decision reaffirms the value of Transora's solution for EAN member organizations because of our advanced functionality and twenty-four-seven customer support services in over 16 languages," said Judith Sprieser, CEO of Transora. "This achievement builds on our continuous commitment to deliver standards-based Data Pool solutions to EAN member organizations."
Guus Slik, Financial Director of Superunie, a large buying group for food retailers, and Frank Mink, CEO of Riedel, a subsidiary of the Friesland Dairy Group of Companies, are the co-chairs of the EAN DAS steering group. They are proud of the success of the Dutch data alignment service and expect further growth, both to notably Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) as well as to other non-food sectors, with the support of Transora. Laurus Supermarkets, one of the leaders in introducing EAN DAS in the market, also expects further expansion, "Without the proper alignment of master data with all our suppliers, large and small, national and cross-border, it is almost impossible to manage the ever wider variety in consumer goods in our supermarkets," said Carlo Bouw, Manager EDI & B2B.
"We are excited that EAN DAS will be 'powered by Transora.' It will improve our ability to receive data from our manufacturing trading partners because it is based on global standards," said Armand Schins, Project Manager Buying Catalogue & Data Integrity of Albert Heijn, the Dutch operating company of leading Netherlands-based retailer Ahold. "As a result of this partnership, we expect that EAN DAS will be able to ensure an even higher level of data quality, as well as increase the speed at which it is communicated."
