Transora to Participate in Demonstration with VeriSign at ECR Europe and UConnect on Interoperability of the EPC Network and Global Data Synchronization Network
ANAHEIM, Calif. & BRUSSELS, Belgium --(Business Wire)-- May 24, 2004 -- Transora, the leading provider of data synchronization solutions to the retail and CPG industries, announced today that it is working with VeriSign, the company selected to manage the authoritative directory for the EPC Network, to demonstrate the interoperability of the EPC Network and the Transora Data Synchronization Network at upcoming industry events, including UConnect and ECR Europe.
The efforts around product data synchronization have yielded an improved model for sharing product information throughout the supply chain. The Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) is a key enabler of this model, facilitating the synchronization and consistency of static, GTIN-level product level information.
The GDSN provides for the synchronization of static data, whereas the EPC Network enables the discovery, storage, and securing of dynamic data. The improved consistency of static product information delivered by the GDSN coupled with dynamically generated item-level information will drive a new level of supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
"Data synchronization is a critical stepping stone to sharing RFID-related data," said Ken Fleming, President and COO, Transora. "Transora is pleased to be part of this live demonstration which clearly illustrates the synergies between Transora's solutions and the EPC Network."
"One of the common questions being asked about RFID is "how will the EPC Network leverage the considerable investment made in data synchronization?" said Brian Matthews, vice president of Directory Services for VeriSign. "By working with Transora and other providers of data services for the GDSN, VeriSign is now able to demonstrate the interoperability of these two systems."
The demonstration will be featured at both UConnect and ECR Europe and will show how the EPC Network can be used to deliver GTIN-level information from Transora, other data pools and PIM applications as well as serialized product information from the EPC Network.
