Travelers Talk to NJ TRANSIT Over Fast Lane Connection from AT&T

BEDMINSTER, N.J., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania travelers calling NJ TRANSIT will gain faster, easier access to information about bus and train arrival and departure times, fares and routes as the result of a five-year, $7.5 million contract between NJ TRANSIT and AT&T.


AT&T is upgrading NJ TRANSIT's administrative and operational networks with an extensive portfolio that includes local, long-distance, international and toll-free voice services; and frame relay and private-line data services.
NJ TRANSIT is New Jersey's public transportation corporation. Covering a service area of 5,325 square miles, it is the nation's third largest provider of bus, rail and light rail transit, linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
NJ TRANSIT's largest inbound call center in Maplewood, N.J., provides fare, route and schedule information. By implementing AT&T's networking solution, NJ TRANSIT customers can expect improved response times and more efficient access to information when calling NJ TRANSIT toll-free information numbers.

AT&T is integrating most of NJ TRANSIT's services through its industry- leading AT&T Business Network (ABN) offer. ABN makes it possible to consolidate communications needs into a single contract, with a single bill and discounts across all services. In addition, through the award-winning secure AT&T BusinessDirect(R) portal, NJ TRANSIT gains online access to tools that provide near-real-time reports on network performance and direct access to AT&T's ordering, status, inventory, trouble management and billing systems.
