SAFLINK Partners With Forward Advantage To Deliver Healthcare Solution

SAFLINK Corporation (NASDAQ: SFLK), a leading developer, marketer, and integrator of biometric security solutions, and Forward Advantage Inc., a leading provider of reliable, high-volume output management solutions for the healthcare market, today announced an alliance to deliver a streamlined system to healthcare organizations that offers secure authentication, workstation locking and workstation logoff.

SAFLINK’s SAFsolution Enterprise Edition, one of the first biometric security solutions designed specifically for organizations using Windows Active Directory service, will be combined with Forward Advantage’s workstation and application management product. Together, this solution will enable healthcare organizations to meet additional requirements of federally mandated Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines for patient data security.

“There is a compelling need in the healthcare market for a robust and practical solution that will help hospitals deal with complex legislative requirements and the need to provide clinicians with efficient access to patient information,” said Darla Rigg, VP of Product Management of Forward Advantage. “By teaming with SAFLINK, we can provide hospitals with rapid, controlled access to sensitive data in a secure environment.”

Forward Advantage’s workstation and application management platform, developed specifically for use with Microsoft® Windows, provides enhanced workstation lock and logoff capabilities to support compliance with HIPAA regulations and automatically logs users off complex healthcare management applications without corrupting data.

SAFLINK’s software allows healthcare providers and support staff to use a fingerprint, proximity card, or other authentication devices to logon and logoff the network. By using a fingerprint or token for authentication, users experience less downtime due to lost or forgotten passwords and can more quickly retrieve patient records in critical care situations. SAFsolution can also provide the auditing functionality now required in many hospital settings.

“Forward Advantage’s emphasis on customer focused information management solutions is very compatible with SAFLINK’s goal of providing dependable security products that are also easy to deploy and user-friendly,” said Walter Hamilton, VP of Business Development for SAFLINK. “Forward Advantage has an impressive history of successfully delivering leading-edge solutions to more than 600 clients in the MEDITECH, Misys, and McKesson hospital information system markets. We look forward to partnering with Forward Advantage to deliver a joint product to the market in the third quarter of this year.”
