Citrix Access Infrastructure Solution Streamlines Tooth-to-Tail for Army Logistics; Provides Model for On-Demand Government Agencies

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --(Business Wire)-- May 10, 2004 -- Citrix Helps CSC to Deploy Global Army Logistics Program, Among the Largest ERP Implementations in the World

Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced an implementation success with the United States Army's Logistics Modernization Program (LMP). Responding to the growing demand for robust access infrastructure solutions in the Federal market, government Information Technology (IT) managers increasingly turn to Citrix(R) to empower the on-demand agency.

Business-based performance models such as Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) spending justifications continue to grow in importance. In order to deliver results and prove value, government decision makers are progressively turning to innovative solutions that empower their agencies to meet both mission and budgetary goals. As a result, the demand for Citrix solutions - which enable Federal agencies to consolidate applications, reduce the overall costs and complexity of enterprise computing and extend investments in hardware - has also grown substantially.

"Citrix provides an innovative, high-value approach for government IT managers caught between increasing requirements and dwindling funding," said Mark Goldman, vice president, Government Systems for Citrix. "Instead of pinching pennies on the fringes of a solution, managers can leverage a robust access infrastructure to cut huge swathes of cost out of an implementation, while adding an entirely new dimension of functionality. Users essentially get more for less."

On July 7, 2003, the United States Army LMP went live with a Citrix solution, processing between 60,000 and 70,000 transactions per day. The solution enables the Army to focus more resources on war fighting elements - the teeth, while reducing the length and complexity of the supporting logistics chain - the tail. Managed by prime contractor Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC), the first phase of LMP incorporates more than 4,000 users at facilities around the globe, bridging 30 year-old legacy systems and current commercial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Citrix MetaFrame(R) Access Suite and Citrix MetaFrame XP(TM) Presentation Server enable the geographically disperse end-users to execute transactions on a broad variety of platform-agnostic workstations.

"Citrix access infrastructure centralizes the critical applications and information and facilitates secure, global access from any number of computing environments," said Chris Colen, a CSC Vice President and the LMP Program Manager. "Citrix provides the maintenance benefits of standards-based computing without demanding the up-front investment in new hardware for the whole system. Using a centralized structure and platform-agnostic client software, we dramatically reduce the total cost of implementation, operation and upkeep."

When completed, LMP will be one of the largest ERP implementations in the world. The system provides the U.S. Army Materiel Command (USAMC) with a modern, collaborative environment that helps the command concentrate on its core functions and make rapid, timely decisions. Deployment of LMP is a key component of the Army's transformation initiative and will create measurable improvements in Army readiness.
