4thpass Names Fran Dougherty Chief Operating Officer

SEATTLE, Washington, May 5 /PRNewswire/ --

Fran Dougherty, a 20-year veteran of the high technology industry, was
recently named Chief Operating Officer for 4thpass, a subsidiary of Motorola
(NYSE: MOT). Dougherty will help grow the 4thpass operator customer base,
drive sales and software development and oversee day-to-day operations at the
Seattle-based wireless software company.

provide the products and services to drive revenue and manage the next
generation of devices and mobile content," said Dougherty. "I'm excited to

4thpass builds secure device and content management software for wireless
operators. The 4thpass Content Delivery System is used by the world's
largest operators, including China Mobile, China Unicom, mm02, Telefonica
Moviles and T-Mobile USA.

a deep understanding of end-to-end solutions. He has an outstanding track
record in delivering software solutions to the market, and ensuring that the

During his 20 years in the high technology industry, Dougherty served in
key roles at Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. Most recently, he was Director
of Strategic Partnerships and Director of Platform Business Development for
Microsoft's Windows eHome division.


While at Sun, Dougherty was Director of Technical Operations for Sun
Software and served as Director of Technology Sales for EMEA with a focus on
mobile telecommunications, interactive TV, automotive and Smart Card markets.
Dougherty was also the CEO of TimeSys Corp., a provider of Linux-based
software solutions.

In September 2002, Motorola acquired 4thpass, and the company became an
independently operated, wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola. Through its

mobile phones, including Smart phones and currently runs on GSM, CDMA and
iDEN operator networks.
