America Online CEO To Make Announcement on Spam; Asset Seized From Spammer Highlights Value of 'Reporting Spam' to ISPs

WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)-- March 29, 2004 -- Think spammers are in the driver's seat? Think again... Every time a consumer reports spam to its ISP, they help drive a spammer out of business. Acting on complaints from its Members, AOL has been aggressively suing spammers, and those lawsuits are having an effect.

In an interesting twist in the spam battle, AOL has further intensified the fight against spam by seizing a valuable asset from a major spammer who was caught thanks to AOL Members reporting spam with the Report Spam button.

AOL's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jon Miller, will unveil the asset on Tuesday, March 30th, in conjunction with an exciting program to award it to someone who truly deserves it -- a spam victim. The program highlights the value and power of consumers collaborating with their ISPs by reporting spam. -0- *T WHAT: Live Interview with AOL Chairman and CEO, Jon Miller, at America Online Headquarters with the Spammer's Asset WHEN: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 11:00am- 12:00pm EST WHERE: America Online, Inc.
