NSTL Selected as Java Verified(TM) Test Facility

BLUE BELL, Pa., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- NSTL has been selected as an authorized testing facility for the Java Verified(TM) program for the testing of Java(TM) 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME(TM) Platform) applications. The Java Verified(TM) program is a collaborative effort launched by Motorola, Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, and Sun Microsystems. The intent of this program is to unify the testing of Java applications into a single program, enabling developers to have a one-stop-shop for getting Java applications tested.

We are pleased to have been selected as an authorized test lab for the Java Verified(TM) Program, said Lloyd Holder, CEO of NSTL. This extends NSTL's position as the leading global certification body for wireless applications. Operators have shared with us that a key consideration for an application getting deployed on their network is quality testing. The Java Verified(TM) program is an important offering that helps developers get the testing they need to accelerate getting their Java applications to market.
We are pleased to have NSTL as an authorized test facility for the Java Verified(TM) program. The addition of NSTL and its global testing capabilities opens the program to a wider range of developers around the world that will need testing from an experienced mobile application testing house, said Juan Dewar, Senior Director, Consumer and Mobile Systems Group, Sun Microsystems.
NSTL will follow the Unified Testing Criteria defined process and evaluate all specifications of J2ME(TM) technology - MIDP 1.0 and MIDP 2.0 applications, including a subset of tests required to test applications due to changes in firmware. Applications that successfully pass will be eligible to use the Java Powered logo.
To make use of the program, wireless developers can visit http://www.javaverified.com/, where applications submitted for testing will be administered by selected test houses worldwide. Applications are tested for application launch, user interface, functionality, security, network and localization capabilities. There are currently over 250 million Java technology-enabled mobile devices deployed by 31 handset manufacturers through 77 operators worldwide.
