[March 24, 2004] JP Mobile Adds Support for Novell GroupWise to SureWave Enterprise Server JP Mobile, Inc. (www.jpmobile.com), a provider of enterprise mobility software, announced their collaboration with Novell to include support for GroupWise 6.0 and 6.5 in SureWave Enterprise Server.Organizations with Novell GroupWise that require a wireless and/or cradle synchronization solution on all major handheld platforms can now use SureWave to increase responsiveness and productivity. With SureWave, organizations can choose any Palm, Windows Mobile, RIM or Symbian device, as well as any Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)-capable device, on any wireless network to address the needs of their mobile workforce. "Until now Novell GroupWise customers did not have an easy solution to securely access corporate data on handheld devices. Today, SureWave provides that much needed solution,” said Ananth Rao, executive vice president, JP Mobile. “With SureWave, GroupWise customers now benefit from a lower total cost of ownership and many productivity gains that we have been delivering to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino customers.” "Synchronizing business data with handheld devices has become a critical element of conducting business today," said Ed Anderson, vice president of marketing for Novell's Nterprise Platform Services group. "JP Mobile's experience in the mobile and wireless e-mail space aligns well with the sophisticated needs of the GroupWise community." GroupWise is a popular e-mail platform for federal, state and local governments, education institutions and the legal industry. Recently cited by one analyst firm, The 451 Group, industry estimates put the number of Novell’s GroupWise seats at approximately 35 million today. With SureWave, the mobile user will have the following features:  Wireless push and/or cradle-based synchronization of e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks  Integrated attachment viewing and access to the global address book from a device  Use of the device’s native e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks applications to eliminate training  Instant notification on a device of new e-mail and calendar items With SureWave, the IT organization will have the following:  No requirement for separate desktop synchronization software  Centralized, server-based synchronization from behind the corporate firewall  Secure, direct connection between the device and SureWave  Multiple network support – GSM/GPRS, CDMA/1XRTT, CDPD, 802.11, BlueTooth, Mobitex Etc  Direct connection to GroupWise leveraging GroupWise API’s (Not based on IMAP)  No need for another mail server within the solution Few select customers will have the pre-release versions at the end of this month, and the product will be generally available in early Q2 of 2004. |
