GigaFast Announces the Availability of 54Mbps Wireless Broadband Router

GigaFast Ethernet, a manufacturer of networking products for home-based and small to medium-sized businesses, announced the availability of the WF717-APR, a 54Mbps wireless broadband router that complies with IEEE 802.11g. The device, which requires no additional software for operation, allows users to quickly and easily bring high-speed Internet Access to all computers on their Ethernet and wireless network.

GigaFast continues its focused effort to maintain its place at the forefront of networking technology, said Jay Cheng, CEO of GigaFast Ethernet. The WF717-APR allows even small businesses to affordably and efficiently extend their network capabilities.

The WF717-APR includes the security features that small to medium sized business owners need. The devices built-in Internet Firewall protects the network from being hacked by outside intruders. Meanwhile, 64/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption presents unauthorized access by outsiders to information stored on the network.

The new device provides high data rate operation up to 54Mbps. The units built-in switch allows users to share files and resources readily between a LAN and a wireless LAN. The WF717-APR, which operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range using OFDM (IEEE 802.11g), features the ability to provide transparent bridging and roaming capabilities to any other wireless connections. Other features include Web-based administration, so that the unit can be configured using only a standard Web browser.

The unit supports multiple WAN connection types, including static IP (for lease line or router to router interconnect); DHCP client (for use with cable modem service); PPPoE (for dial up ADSL service); PPTP client (for some European dial up); and ADSL or L2-VPN. It offers eleven operating channels for the United States and Canada and 13 channels for Europe.

The device, which is available immediately and includes a 3-year limited warranty, is priced at $89.99 MSRP. GigaFast offers free technical support within the United States for the WF717-APR.
