Neven Vision - Formerly Eyematic – Introduces Next Generation of Machine Vision Technology

Neven Vision, the company formed from facial technology leader Eyematic in May 2003, is providing customers with its next generation facial recognition and facial feature tracking software, giving them the fastest, most accurate facial analysis “engine” on the market. The software, under the Eyematic name, was amongst the best-performing facial recognition system in the U.S. Government’s 2002 Facial Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT).

“Neven Vision purchased from Eyematic the finest software in the machine vision space,” said Dr. Hartmut Neven, Neven Vision’s founder and CEO. “Now we’ve introduced several significant upgrades to this technology, including dramatic efficiency improvements that allow it to run on embedded platforms, which is critical for the consumer electronics market. We’ve also made great strides in throughput, which is essential for biometric applications.”
The latest generation of Neven Vision’s facial feature tracking software will allow wireless operators and consumer electronics companies to deliver fun applications such as avatar animation and real-time video effects for multimedia messaging. Some of Neven Vision’s key achievements in this area include an increased ability to track features in real world conditions that are frequently characterized by poor illumination and non-frontal head poses. The company is in negotiations with global wireless carriers seeking to implement its technology.

For access control and security applications, Neven Vision has dramatically increased the performance of its face detection module, which is now able to recognize multiple faces within the same image.

Neven Vision purchased Eyematic’s assets in July 2003. Dr. Hartmut Neven, one of the world’s leading machine vision experts, led the technical team that created the original Eyematic system. Dr. Neven is also developing groundbreaking “next generation” face and object recognition technologies at USC’s Information Sciences Institute (ISI).
