Western Gas Resources Selects Broadwing for Frame Relay Services

Broadwing Communications, a consolidated subsidiary of Corvis Corporation (NASDAQ: CORV), announced that Western Gas Resources (NYSE: WGR), an independent natural gas producer, gatherer, processor, transporter and energy marketer, has selected Broadwing for its frame relay services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Western Gas is using Broadwing's nationwide frame relay network to connect its nine field service sites in the remote areas of the Rocky Mountains, Mid-Continent and West Texas regions of the United States. Broadwing is providing complete coverage to all Western Gas field service locations by integrating a customized local access solution, which allows Western Gas to increase bandwidth, while reducing costs across its wide area network (WAN).

"We looked at several carriers for our frame relay services. Broadwing's responsive sales team, their flexibility and cost effective solutions to our communications needs were the winning factors," said Mark Schultheis, manager of IT Infrastructure at Western Gas Resources.
