Borland Brings Optimizeit Suite to Mac OS X; Performance Management Solution Reduces Time and Cost to Develop Java-Based Applications on the Mac
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- June 28, 2004 -- Borland Software (Nasdaq:BORL) today announced support for Mac OS X in its next release of Borland(R) Optimizeit(TM) Suite, the company's solution for isolating and resolving performance bottlenecks during the development of Java(TM) applications. George Paolini, vice president and general manager of developer tools at Borland, will discuss this support during today's "Java State of the Union Address" at 5 p.m. PST during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference at Moscone Center West in San Francisco.
"As Mac developers move into more complex Java applications, they need enterprise-strength solutions that will assist them throughout the software application lifecycle," said Paolini. "The Borland performance management solution is designed to reduce the time and cost of developing Java-based enterprise software applications. We are pleased to offer it, along with our other industry leading Java solutions such as Borland(R) JBuilder(R) X Enterprise, to Apple's worldwide developer community."
"Apple has fine-tuned Java on Mac OS X while maintaining outstanding compatibility, making Mac OS X the ultimate platform for developing and deploying cross-platform Java applications," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of worldwide developer relations. "Mac OS X delivers Java 2 on every system, and together with the Borland Optimizeit Suite, developers can have powerful solutions to create high-quality Java applications even faster."
The Optimizeit Suite is designed to speed development of Java applications by providing enterprise development teams with powerful Java profiling features, enabling them to isolate performance hazards early in the development process, reduce performance problems in production and speed application time-to-market. The Optimizeit Suite comes with Memory and CPU profiling, thread analysis and code coverage analysis capabilities, as well as progress tracking. It offers a unique scope of performance data that extends from higher-level Java(TM) Virtual Machine (JVM(TM)) diagnostic metrics to deep code-level granularity down to the offending line of source code. It also offers numerous advanced capabilities like Automatic Memory Leak Detector and Application Quality Analyzer to pinpoint performance issues swiftly.
The Optimizeit Suite, an important offering for managing the software testing process, is part of the Borland(R) Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) approach to improving software quality and performance. The Optimizeit Suite integrates with all leading Java integrated development environments (IDEs) and application servers, and supports Windows(R), Solaris(TM) and Linux(R) operating systems.
