New Bandwidth and Authentication Manager (BAM) Software Release Adds Depth to Motorola's Canopy(TM) Wireless Broadband Platform
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. has introduced a new version of its Bandwidth and Authentication Manager (BAM) software that improves the way Canopy wireless broadband platform users view their networks and makes it easier and more efficient to manage system resources.
The announcement was made at SUPERCOMM 2004 (June 22-24/McCormick Place, Chicago), where Motorola has showcased its wireless broadband solutions this week.
"Centralized control of network functionality is a vital component of scalability," said Tom Hulsebosch, senior director of sales and marketing for Motorola's Canopy Wireless Broadband business. "The BAM software provides centralized management of Minimum Information Rates and user authentication. RADIUS support is added so that operator's may exchange end-customer parameters for use in the Canopy system."
The BAM software provides public and private network operators bandwidth allocation control to assign maximum data rates per subscriber including: Sustained Uplink; Uplink Burst Allocation; Sustained Downlink Data Rate and Downlink Burst. In addition, the BAM software is the central point of authentication in the Canopy system.
With Release 2.0, network operators can manage their network assets efficiently by controlling license management from a central location. Another key feature, the subscriber module status control, helps save time managing the Canopy system through the ability to suspend individual subscriber modules without having to delete them from the database.
The new 2.0 software release also supports a variety of databases. The BAM 2.0 will work with more installed operations systems including RADIUS servers, or to a BAM specific database through ODBC (Postgres and MySQL are currently supported).
