Videre Delivers Conferencing Technology To Over Thirty New England Healthcare Providers; More Than Any Other Firm; Videoconferencing & Telemedicine Applications Transform Patient Care

QUINCY, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- June 22, 2004 -- Videre Conferencing has rapidly become New England's leading provider of video, audio and web conferencing solutions to the healthcare industry. Videre has designed, installed and serviced conferencing projects at more than thirty healthcare facilities across New England in the past two years. Healthcare organizations of all sizes from UMASS Medical Center in Worcester to regional medical centers such as Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Concord Hospital in NH to community hospitals in Hyannis and Falmouth on Cape Cod have turned to Videre for their conferencing needs.

"What we are seeing today is a major upgrade cycle as healthcare organizations look to take advantage of the improvements in conferencing equipment, technology and pricing," said Videre President Todd Luttinger. "With broadcast quality images now possible over IP-based networks, the application of videoconferencing has gone from staff meetings to expert consultations with doctors around the world to teaching medical school students and increasingly telesurgery."

Highlights from Videre conferencing projects across New England

Women & Infants Hospital, Providence, RI: The hospital recently completed an upgrade of its videoconferencing network that connects nine affiliated healthcare facilities throughout Rhode Island.

Early this month, a US soldier who was injured overseas and transferred to a stateside rehab hospital was able to see, hear and talk to his wife in real-time during the labor and delivery of their first child. The telemedicine team at Women & Infants along with the network technicians from the US Marines worked through the night to make this possible.

"It was an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to do this for a young family who has sacrificed so much for all of us," said Lois Lynch, Director of Telemedicine at Women & Infants Hospital. "This experience also made us realize that we are doing amazing things each and everyday with our conferencing technology. Whether the technology is being used to consult cancer specialists in Israel or used as a teaching tool for Brown University OB/GYN students, videoconferencing has become an everyday tool here at Women & Infants Hospital."

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), Lebanon, NH: Videre upgraded DHMC's network that connects over 15 affiliate hospitals and clinics throughout New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. DHMC and its affiliate doctors hold regular videoconferences with dialysis colleagues at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and orthopedic specialists hold regular videoconferences with doctors as far away as Adelaide Hospital in Australia to discuss specific patient care issues taking place at both hospitals.

Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA; Falmouth Hospital, Falmouth, MA: Videre was selected by Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals to upgrade and support their legacy conferencing equipment and expand their capabilities to communicate with healthcare providers on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. In addition to heavy usage by hospital administrators and staff, videoconferencing is frequently used to communicate with doctors on the outer islands, giving them access to the medical experts at these and other hospitals around the region.

UMASS Medical School, Amherst, MA: The primary application for the project is to extend the capabilities of the Continuing Medical Education program for health care professionals. Videoconferencing will also be used to enhance staff research, enable meetings between geographically dispersed doctors, provide training and conduct administrative meetings. Additionally, Videre will work with UMASS Medical School to maintain and support its legacy videoconferencing network and equipment.
