Comindico Deploys NexTone's Session Controller Products to Enable Australian-Based eCall VoIP Service

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- June 22, 2004 -- Multiprotocol Session Controller Allows Comindico to Simply, Cost-Effectively Interconnect with a Variety of VoIP Carriers

NexTone(TM) Communications, the leading provider of end-to-end session controller technologies for the delivery of real-time services over IP, today announced that Comindico, a leading IP network provider in Australia, has deployed NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC) to deliver its new eCall voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. The unmatched interoperability and interworking capabilities of NexTone's products allow Comindico to simply and affordably interconnect with virtually any VoIP carrier partner.

"NexTone has given us a cost-effective means to achieve our vision of being able to make any phone in the world ring without having to use or be charged for using traditional telephone exchanges," said Trevor Harris, Chief Technical Officer with Comindico. "Because of their exceptional experience in the VoIP marketplace, NexTone is at the forefront of the industry in terms of understanding and proactively addressing carriers' needs. The flexibility of the NexTone solution is proof."

With NexTone's MSC, Comindico avoids interoperability problems that have traditionally prevented the seamless interconnection of SIP- and H.323-based networks via IP. The NexTone solution eliminates a variety of signaling problems including message formatting, timing, and industry interpretation of standards and improves network address translation (NAT) and port address translation (PAT) via enhanced signaling, media routing, and processing. Utilizing its unique FlexPeer capabilities, the NexTone MSC is able to overcome existing interoperability challenges and simplify interconnects with any existing network infrastructure including VocalTec, Clarent, and Cisco-based IP networks. As a result, Comindico has the flexibility and opportunity to pursue additional VoIP partners and enjoy increased revenue opportunities.

"We're excited that our first deployment in Australia is with such an aggressive and visionary carrier," said Raj Sharma, president of NexTone Communications. "Comindico's eCall service is a landscape-altering development for business communications in Australia, and we are proud to be an enabler. Our solution has been engineered to allow carriers to profitably pass along the cost advantages of VoIP to their customers."
