Esmertec to Demonstrate New Breakthrough Java Solution - Jbed Advanced During JavaOne 2004; Modular High-Performance Multitasking Platform for Fast Time to Market Deployments
DUEBENDORF-ZURICH, Switzerland --(Business Wire)-- June 22, 2004 -- Esmertec(TM) (www.esmertec.com), a leading provider of Java solutions for mobile phones and embedded devices, will be demonstrating its innovative breakthrough Java Virtual Machine (JVM) solution - Jbed(TM) Advanced - during JavaOne 2004.
Jbed Advanced consolidates the best of Esmertec's embedded Java technologies and expertise within a high-performance, modular Java execution platform. This state-of-the-art Java solution is designed to power embedded devices including feature phones, smartphones, smart devices and home multimedia systems, with multiservice capabilities and highly customizable user experiences.
Jbed Advanced is the new Java-technology product line of Esmertec which will bring a continuous stream of cutting edge features and benefits for customers. The first release of the Jbed Advanced series will be available in August 2004 and will include key features such as:
-- Concurrent MIDlets - Through simultaneously running applications, end users can multitask or consume concurrently delivered information in a seamless way
-- Choice of Esmertec's high-performance FastBCC(TM) or FastDAC compilation engine within a unified code base - Jbed Advanced modular architecture enables device manufacturers to select the compilation engine that best fits their needs while leveraging a common Java software infrastructure across their entire product range
-- Best in Class Performance and Portability - Jbed Advanced includes highly optimized service libraries and porting modules delivering enhanced runtime performance, smaller footprint and reduced integration efforts for customers
Available with Jbed Advanced will be Esmertec's Jcap(TM) Brand Manager. The Jcap Brand Manager module enables device manufacturers to customize very simply the J2ME(TM) software look and feel of their device to fit a variety of branding requirements. For seamless integration of the Java environment into the mobile phone, an open API (Application Programming Interface) feature will enable the harmonization of the Java- and the native user interface. For the end consumer, Jcap Brand Manager allows personalization with pre-installed or Over-The-Air (OTA) themes and wallpapers.
