Taiwanese Application Service Provider Implements Verso's Clarent Class 5 Call Manager

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)-- June 15, 2004 -- Maya Online Enhances Existing Clarent Infrastructure to Support Voice Over IP (VoIP) Services for Enterprise Customers

Verso Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRSO), an integrated communications solutions company, today announced that Maya Online, an application service provider based in Taiwan, has implemented Verso's Clarent(R) Class 5 Call Manager (C5CM) to support a new VoIP service. The C5CM, part of the Clarent Edge Access Softswitch Solution, delivers connectivity between end-user IP devices and telephony switches and will enable Maya Online to extend their business model from consumer prepaid calling cards and wholesale traffic concentration to also include enterprise business services.

"With more than 50,000 monthly calling card customers and a growing wholesale concentration business, we realized that the best way for us to increase revenue streams was to roll out new services to new markets," said James Huang, chief operations officer of Maya Online. "By enhancing our existing Clarent infrastructure to include the Edge Access Softswitch Solution, we can now reach this objective, delivering the enhanced services that businesses in Taiwan need -- starting with VoIP to the desktop."

Maya Online made their initial commitment to Verso's Clarent technology because it enabled them to support both prepaid and wholesale concentration services with a single, easy-to-implement platform. In addition, the company favored the Verso partnership because the edge services platform was scalable and, as they have now proven, could be easily upgraded to support new services.
