BPON Equipment 'Powered by BroadLight' to Take Center Stage At Supercomm Tradeshow

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- June 15, 2004 -- BroadLight Solutions are in Volume Fiber Roll-Outs Today and Have Been Selected by Most of the Top PON Equipment Vendors

BroadLight, Inc., the leading supplier of semiconductors, software and transceivers for fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) deployments, today announced that at Supercomm it will be showcasing its suite of BPON components and software, a jointly designed BPON solution with Broadcom, and customer engagements that represent some of the largest fiber roll-outs in the world today. Using a "Powered by BroadLight" campaign to demonstrate its high-profile customer successes, BroadLight can be located in booth #23912.

"Our Powered by BroadLight campaign is designed not only to highlight our customer successes but also to demonstrate the strong position we've achieved with our integrated component and software offerings," said Andrew Vought, CEO of BroadLight. "We are the only company to offer BPON products for both the CO and CPE; we just introduced the industry's first BPON controller IC for the CO, and we are the only component company that offers a complete software suite to accompany our hardware products. As a result, we can uniquely offer our customers unprecedented time-to-market and cost advantages as well as ensured compatibility on both ends of the line."

BroadLight Products Being Showcased

Broadcom Joint Solutions -- Broadcom and BroadLight have jointly developed highly-integrated solutions for residential fiber to the premise (FTTP) broadband services. These solutions utilize next generation PON and broadband communications silicon technology and will enable the rapid production of cost-effective FTTP optical network units (ONUs) for delivering voice, data and video.

PON Controllers -- The components support the basic and enhanced BPON standard (G.983, 1.25 Gbps downstream, 622 Mbps upstream) and include the following functions: framing, media access, SERDES, CDR, cell and packet transmission, queue management, DBA, traffic protection, and out-of-band management.

Transceivers -- BroadLight's line of optical transceiver products includes bidirectional and three wavelength burst mode transceivers along with CATV receivers. BroadLight's transceivers support upstream and downstream bandwidth with flexible data rates for both the CPE and central office.

Software Stack -- The software packages cover various functionalities: low-level drivers, communications and management protocols, dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) algorithms, traffic protection, and more. The portable software is implemented in a way that facilitates easy and fast integration with the customer's application software, and is furnished with all the necessary hooks that enable customization to the application's needs.
