Sharp Unveils a Compact Multifunction Document System with Secure Fax Capability
MAHWAH, N.J. --(Business Wire)-- June 14, 2004 -- New Platen-Based Document Communication System Delivers Big Machine Functionality in a Compact Size to Meet the Evolving Needs of Small Offices and Workgroups
Sharp today introduced the FO-DC550 Super G3 Document Communication System that offers robust copy, print, fax, and color scan capabilities out-of-the-box. The FO-DC550 is an economical, easy-to-use multifunction document system that provides the flexibility needed in today's fast-paced small office environments. Advanced features such as color scanning and secure fax release make the FO-DC550 an ideal communication solution for today's contemporary businesses. The versatile design of the FO-DC550 also allows businesses to add workgroup functionality that includes network scanning and PCL6 network printing.
"The FO-DC550 Document Communication System is an advanced business solution, with the functionality and performance that today's networked offices demand," said George Grafanakis, senior product marketing manager, Sharp. "This new platen-based MFP helps small businesses meet all of their document needs by offering incredible performance in a compact design that is intuitive and user-friendly."
The FO-DC550 is equipped with a robust 16-ppm engine and includes a 30-sheet reversing document feeder, a 250-sheet letter/legal paper supply that is upgradeable to 500 sheets and a 50-sheet bypass tray, as well auto duplex copying and printing, electronic sorting, and offset stacking.
The optional AR-NB2N network expansion kit offers Web-based management, which provides scan destination control, remote e-mail diagnostics, device configuration and more. The network expansion kit also includes PCL6 network printing and full color network scanning that supports LDAP. Color network scanning enables users to easily share documents with convenient ad-hoc scan-to-email, scan-to-desktop, scan-to-FTP, scan-to-URL and scan-to-print features.
A standard USB 2.0 interface and IEEE 1284 parallel interface provide flexible connection alternatives. Sharp's integrated desktop document management software, Sharpdesk(TM), allows scanned documents to be edited, saved or distributed quickly and easily.
Coming later this summer, users will be able to quickly learn all of the features of the FO-DC550 with MY SHARP, a dedicated customer support Web site developed by Sharp Document Solutions Company of America. MY SHARP allows dealers to provide individually tailored information online, which offers customers specific instructions and demonstrations.
The FO-DC550 document communication system will be available this month for a suggested list price of $2,495 through Sharp's authorized network of facsimile dealers.
