Mazu Networks Launches Version 4.0 of Mazu Profiler and the Mazu Blade System
WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)-- June 7, 2004 --
New release delivers industry-leading scalability, reporting, and integration into legacy systems and workflow
Mazu Networks today announced the availability of Version 4.0 of the Mazu Profiler(TM), the industry-leading behavioral network security solution. Version 4.0 of Profiler sets a new industry benchmark for scalability and includes new features that make it faster and easier for large enterprises to operationalize the system. This release also marks the addition of the Profiler Blade System, a new offering to Mazu's Profiler product family. The Blade System is an expandable version of Profiler based on the IBM BladeCenter platform.
"Mazu's focus and top priority has always been to help major corporations and government agencies protect their enterprises from worms and other network threats," said Jim Melvin, Mazu Networks' president and CEO. "Profiler 4.0 delivers the scale and performance that large enterprises require for protecting the critical network services and data inside their networks. But what is truly innovative is that Profiler can deliver this powerful functionality while decreasing the IT staff's workload. This is a very appealing combination for our customers and prospects."
"The adoption of IBM eServer BladeCenter-based computing among major enterprises is accelerated when leading solution providers make their products available on this highly scalable platform," said Juhi Jotwani, Director of IBM BladeCenter Ecosystem Expansion. "We are pleased that Mazu Networks is now delivering its Profiler solution on our BladeCenter system. We believe that combined solutions like this, with new security functionality and scalability options, can deliver real value to enterprise customers."
"The new challenge facing security teams is to protect their increasingly open internal network without further straining scarce resources," said Jon Oltsik, Senior Information Security Analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. "New security solutions cannot be islands. They must work with existing tools and workflows to maintain operational efficiency. Mazu Profiler provides capabilities to protect internal networks, facilitate integration with existing management solutions and tie into workflows without introducing any additional financial or operational burdens."
Industry-leading scalability
A new version of the Mazu Profiler running on the IBM Blade Center enables parallel processing of network traffic data contained in Profiler's underlying MCube technology. This high-end computing power enables Profiler Version 4.0 to build, maintain and analyze in real-time all activity in the world's largest and most complex enterprise networks. This 'industrial-strength' capacity enables Profiler to handle networks with up to a half-million hosts with the highest performance. This clearly sets it apart as the most powerful and scalable behavioral network security solution on the market.
Instant, network-wide reporting
Profiler Version 4.0 includes new Instant Reports that give users real-time access to reports on network-wide security incidents. These reports, created by Profiler within seconds, pinpoint all anomalous connection behaviors across an entire enterprise network, and provide detailed assessments of each behavior. For example, Profiler's new Instant Report on Top Usage highlights areas in the network with the heaviest traffic volumes. This instant reporting performance holds true even when long periods of network activity are being analyzed. Profiler Version 4.0 also includes tools that enable fast and easy creation of both custom and regularly scheduled reports. For example, Version 4.0 enables the automatic scheduling of a wide range of reports for whatever time period and with whatever frequency is desired. Another new reporting feature is Profiler's ability to run multiple types of reports in the background.
Integration with legacy systems to facilitate workflow
New advancements in Version 4.0 give customers easy and efficient ways to integrate Profiler into their existing environments. Version 4.0 provides mechanisms that facilitate the delivery of rich event and network information to legacy solutions such as network and security management systems. This enables users to leverage their existing systems and workflow to handle internal network security issues, and quickly call upon Profiler's interface for deeper levels of information and more granular analysis. These capabilities drive new efficiencies in the network security and workflow process and avoid putting additional strain on already scarce resources.
New member of the Profiler family: the Profiler Blade System
As a member of the IBM eServer BladeCenter Alliance Program, Mazu Networks has leveraged the enormous computing power and scalability of the IBM eServer BladeCenter platform to deliver the most scalable behavioral protection solution on the market.
The Profiler Version 4.0 Blade System contains multiple mBlades - Mazu server blades running Profiler's network traffic analysis software. All mBlades work together to efficiently process large amounts of network traffic data in parallel. Enterprises can purchase enough Profiler mBlades to cover their existing network security needs and add mBlades later as their needs change. All mBlades work together, processing network data in a single model, enabling a network-wide view of all activity on the network, and highly accurate detection of threats and operationally relevant events. The Profiler Blade System delivers efficient space utilization, high availability and the flexibility to add resources as needed. IBM eServer BladeCenter provides exceptional flexibility and allows data center managers to effectively manage operational issues such as space constraints, manageability, scalability, capacity, performance, cooling and power requirements.
The Mazu Profiler
The Mazu Profiler, now in its fourth generation, is a network security platform that protects critical network services and applications inside large enterprise networks. Mazu Profiler's underlying MCube technology creates and maintains a dynamic model of behavior in a network - analyzing anomalies or deviations from typical behavior. The combination of MCube and Mazu's advanced security heuristics enable security and network teams to react faster - with accurate detection and critical data to respond and recover. Profiler also helps teams be more proactive - identifying unauthorized applications and rogue services, optimizing access policies on firewalls and routers, monitoring usage policies across the network, and providing greater visibility into how the network and assets in the network are actually being used. The result is less downtime and disruption to key systems and fewer resources wasted on investigation, response and recovery, and hardening the network.
About Mazu Networks
Mazu Networks is the first security company to provide real-time insight into enterprise network behavior, reducing the risk, cost and complexity of securing critical network assets and services. The company's real-time traffic modeling technology enables enterprises to profile, plan, and protect networks with unmatched accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. The Mazu Profiler protects critical applications and services inside the network. Mazu's Enforcer solution protects networks from denial of service and other bandwidth-based attacks.
