Fujitsu and Atrica Announce Strategic Reseller Agreement SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- June 7, 2004 -- Atrica Inc.-- Carrier-Class Optical Ethernet Technology From Atrica and World-Class Service and Support From Fujitsu Will Enable Carriers to Transition to Critical New Services and Delivery Models -- Agreement Is an Integral Part of Fujitsu's 'Flexible Architecture for Subscriber Service Termination' (FASST(TM)) Initiative Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and networking solutions, and Atrica(R), a leading provider of Optical Ethernet equipment, today announced a strategic reseller agreement. Part of the Fujitsu Flexible Architecture for Subscriber Service Termination (FASST(TM)) business initiative, this agreement leverages the power of Atrica's innovative, Carrier-class Optical Ethernet technology with the world-class service and support and huge installed base of mission-critical networks for which Fujitsu is known. The new relationship will strengthen the companies' abilities to provide advanced metro Ethernet networking solutions to service providers in North America. For service providers, the agreement will enable the creation of a more dynamic and profitable service model under which they can cost-effectively deliver a broad range of new and differentiable value-added voice, video, and data services. To complement the existing Fujitsu FLASHWAVE(R) optical transport product portfolio, Fujitsu will resell Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems, which enable carriers to transition their networks in order to offer new services without compromise, simplify their metro network operations, reduce their capital outlay and operational expenses, and scale their networks to support emerging Ethernet-based services. Fujitsu will provide sales, technical, and logistical support -- including network design, installation, deployment, system and network testing, and interoperability testing -- for the Atrica solutions within its customer channels. In addition, the companies will engage in joint marketing activities. In an "all-out and major assault" on the Optical Ethernet and Advanced packet network market, Fujitsu is targeting service providers and Multiple System Operators (MSOs) who wish to transition to an efficient packet infrastructure capable of delivering the new business and broadband services required for them to effectively compete, while leveraging their installed infrastructure as well as advanced Optical Ethernet technology. Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems meld the simplicity of Ethernet with Carrier-class traffic engineering capabilities to supply significantly better price/performance than other available solutions.
