AESP Launches eLearning Portal

JUPITER, Fla. --(Business Wire)-- July 27, 2004 -- Energy services personnel around the world can now access technical training through a new eLearning portal on the website of the Association of Energy Services Professionals International (http://www.aesp.org).

"Finding the time and budget to travel to a classroom is getting tougher and tougher, yet the need to stay abreast of new energy service technologies and advances in energy efficiency is greater than ever," said Elliot Boardman, executive director of AESP. "This online gateway provides 24/7 access so people can take the training they need when it's most convenient and appropriate for them," he said.

The AESP eLearning portal features a "Study-Center" containing dozens of energy-related and utility-specific courses developed by Apogee Interactive Inc., the pioneer of online learning for the energy industry. Courses span topics ranging from residential and commercial energy systems and power quality to lighting systems and distributed generation. The portal also includes basic business development courses and a Situational Spanish course written specifically for power company employees.

AESP's debut of an eLearning portal mirrors the current corporate trend in training. According to Training Magazine's 22nd Annual Industry Report, more than 25 percent of all corporate training is now conducted online and Web-based courses dominate the online delivery mechanisms. "Training is central to our mission as an organization," said Boardman. "The portal completes our blended learning approach." AESP members can access the courses at a discount.

"E-learning enables you to access training in less time, at less cost and with greater retention of skills and knowledge," said Susan Gilbert, president of Apogee Interactive and 20-year veteran of energy training. "It's the ultimate in `just-in-time' and `just-for-me' training - students take the courses they need when they need them."

Founded in 1989, the Association for Energy Services Professionals International (http://www.aesp.org) is an internationally recognized organization dedicated to serving energy services professionals through leading-edge publications, training, conferences and networking. AESP members encompass a variety of disciplines including marketing, engineering, economics, planning and market research, and work for organizations such as utilities, consulting firms, energy service companies, utility marketing affiliates, manufacturers, and governmental agencies.

Apogee Interactive, Inc. (http://www.apogee.net) is a full-service provider of online technology solutions and e-learning to the energy industry.
