Canon's New Entry-level A3 Laser Printer Offers High Speed, High Cost-performance

Canon (TSE: 7751) today announced in Japan the introduction of a new entry-level A3 monochrome office laser printer realizing high-speed output and high cost-performance: the Canon Satera LBP3600.

The new Canon Satera LBP3600 features a range of advanced technology and features, including a high-speed printer engine that enables the production of standard A4 documents at a fast 22 pages per minute. Moreover, Canon's High-Speed On-Demand toner fusing technology supports quick start-up by eliminating warm-up time*1, and an ultra-short paper path greatly reduces the paper-feed distance compared with the LBP3600's predecessor to realize a first-print time of just 8.6 seconds.

Also enhancing office productivity is CAPT (Canon Advanced Printing Technology) driver software, which enables seamless performance on Windows(r) and Macintosh operating systems. Enabling the data processing usually handled by the printer to be performed by the connected computer, CAPT makes optimal use of the performance potential of the user's computer to achieve high printing speeds. The LBP3600 also features Hi-Smart Compression Architecture (Hi-SCoA) and Canon's Pipeline Transfer technology, which facilitate high-speed data transfer when linked to a PC via a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface. As a result, users can process heavy image data without the need to expand printer memory capacity.

Realizing among the lowest running costs in its class, the new Satera LBP3600 employs Canon's large-volume toner cartridge to cut toner expenses by 30% to just ¥2.9*2 per page. Further helping businesses to reduce their Total Cost of Ownership, the system allows users to print multiple pages of a document on each sheet of paper and, when using the optional DU-66 Duplexing Unit, print on both sides for efficient utilization of paper and toner.

The new Canon Satera LBP3600 also offers an optional multi-protocol printer server for 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX compatibility with network environments, as well as an optional paper feeder to enable a maximum paper capacity of 1,100 sheets.

Pricing and availability The Canon Satera LBP3600 will be available in Japan from today, priced at Y79,800. Canon has set initial production at 2,500 units per month.
*1 Nine-second warm up time from initial startup
*2 Assumes 5% coverage of one standard A4 sheet when using Toner Cartridge VP-66
