TRAXUS Technologies Introduces EPC Director 2.0; Universal Translator Allows Effortless Addition of RFID Capabilities for Less Than $300

MCLEAN, Va. --(Business Wire)-- July 13, 2004 -- TRAXUS Technologies, a leading RFID technology services company, announces EPC Director 2.0, a new software application that provides a universal management layer for the major EPC-compliant RFID readers, interrogators and tags in their own language and translates RFID information into a standard data format for integration into back-end systems. This translation ability enables organizations to inexpensively add multi-vendor RFID capabilities to their existing supply chain systems and back-end solutions. EPC Director is available as a single user program as well as with OEM and private label options and starts at less than $300 per license.

"EPC Director was developed in response to challenges we experienced in the field as we helped companies adopt the new RFID technologies," said Eric Oganesoff, CEO of TRAXUS Technologies. "By deploying EPC Director, companies can preserve the investments they've already made and speed compliance with the increasing number of mandates in the industry. All at a price that makes it affordable for any organization."

The RFID industry, while fairly new, is rapidly expanding, driven by mandates from Wal-Mart, Target, Albertsons, the Department of Defense and other leading organizations. The industry still lacks full standardization, making EPC Director a crucial part of an organization's operations. This software application allows hardware from multiple vendors in multiple locations to communicate with the organization's back-end infrastructure such as warehouse management, logistics, manufacturing and ERP systems that are already in place. The application's forward and backward compatibility protects an organization's investment in RFID technologies and allows adaptation to take place at a rate that is right for the user's particular environment.

EPC Director 2.0 offers a full range of features including the following: cross platform capability to run on both Windows(R) and Linux; a common user interface for configuring and managing readers from a range of vendors; zoning to create multiple portals (i.e. receiving, shipping, etc.) and capture, filter and report information from each portal; ability to run interactively or to run as a service; and a price point starting at less than $300 per license.

Pricing and Availability

EPC Director 2.0 is available now at a base price of $299.99 per license, which allows for the installation of EPC Director on one PC or mini-computer. A single installation can simultaneously manage multiple readers and interrogators from different vendors. Five, twenty five, one hundred and unlimited license packs are also available. TRAXUS offers a range of support options so that users can choose what is appropriate for their specific environment. Data Formats and Operating Systems Supported

EPC Director works with the major EPC-compliant readers, interrogators and tags. The application can format RFID data from those devices into standard JDBC, XML or flat file transactions - formats that virtually every existing back-end system can accept. The program supports Windows XP(R), Windows 2000(R), Windows NT(R) and Linux operating systems.
